Following a career of technical positions in the agricultural, horticultural and retail industries, Barkwith Associates was founded in 2002 by Murray Smedley to provide specialist advice in the areas of Plant Protection, Biocides, Classification & Labelling and Fertilisers & Biostimulants. Never far from our original location in the village of West Barkwith, Lincolnshire, England, Barkwith Associates is now located in bespoke eco offices on the outskirts of the cathedral city of Lincoln.

Our aims remain the same today as our first - to provide a clear, pragmatic approach and solutions to regulatory hurdles

The Barkwith Group comprises of three legal entities that together deliver comprehensive chemical compliance services across the UK, EU, and other global regions.

Barkwith Associates Ltd (established in 2002) specialises in plant protection products (PPP), biopesticides, fertilisers and biostimulants, and Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) obligations and classification and labelling (CLP). The company supports clients with regulatory strategy, dossier preparation, and ongoing compliance.

Barkwith Chemical focuses on global chemical regulation, offering deep expertise in UK/EU REACH registration, data compliance, as well as Only Representative (OR) and Third Party Representative (TPR) services.

Barkwith Europe Ltd, headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, Allows the Barkwith Group of companies to offer OR and TPR services under EU REACH, as well as Poison Centre Notifications (PCN), enabling non-EU companies to operate effectively within the European Union.

Working as a unified team, we integrate market-entry planning, study design, dossier compilation, and post-authorisation compliance—offering clients a seamless journey from initial concept through submission and ongoing stewardship.

Orion Business Centre is located in the heart of Stamford, Lincolnshire, a market town of some 20,000 inhabitants and one of the finest stone towns in the country.

Stamford has ready access to the A1 trunk road and from this to other major east coast road connections. It also has a rail station, which is on the Birmingham to Peterborough Line.

Stamford is within the district of South Kesteven – the most south westerly of the seven Lincolnshire districts and, as such, is in close proximity to Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland.

Situated in the East Midlands, it is approximately 90 miles from London. South Kesteven comprises of four main towns: Stamford, Grantham, Bourne and The Deepings. In addition, there are over 100 villages and hamlets spread throughout the district.
